Recommendations
- Bring your swimming costume if you fancy a dip at Burriana beach.
- Comfortable shoes: Frigiliana is all cobbled lanes and steps.
- Bring a snack and water; about a litre per person is a good measure.
- It can be done with a folding wheelchair, as long as the person can get on and off the coach on their own or with a companion, as there is no specific assistance for boarding: say so when you book. The option with the Cave cannot, because wheelchairs are not allowed inside.
- The order can change: some days the group visits Nerja first and Frigiliana afterwards.
- Pets are not allowed.

Nerja and Frigiliana
Approximately an hour and a half in Frigiliana and three and a half hours in Nerja, for the Balcón de Europa, the old town, the beach and lunch. This is the trip described on this page.

The same day, with an audio-guided visit of approximately an hour inside the Nerja Cave and approximately two and a half hours of free time in Nerja afterwards. Pushchairs and wheelchairs are not allowed in the cave.

A white village and a balcony over the sea
Frigiliana and Nerja are only seven kilometres apart, in the Axarquía, the eastern end of the province of Málaga. This day trip joins them up from the Costa del Sol: the cobbled lanes of a white village in the morning, and the sea, the beach and lunch in Nerja.
Along the coast to the Axarquía
After pickup, the coach runs east along the Mediterranean to the Axarquía. There is no breakfast stop on the way: Frigiliana is the place for it.
Frigiliana
Often called one of the most beautiful villages in Málaga, Frigiliana keeps its old Moorish quarter of whitewashed houses, steep cobbled lanes and blue doors and flowerpots. You have approximately an hour and a half to walk it: Calle Hernando el Darra, the Callejón del Garral and the viewpoints over the valley and the sea. In the Plaza de las Tres Culturas you can take home cane honey or a sweet wine from the Axarquía.
Nerja
Then on to Nerja, with approximately three and a half hours of free time. Walk through the old town to the Balcón de Europa, a promenade on a cliff over the sea; go down to the beach at Burriana for a swim; or find the park of Verano Azul, the Spanish TV series of the 1980s filmed here, with a replica of its boat, “La Dorada”. Nerja is also the place for lunch, from fresh fish to tapas.
With the Cave option, the visit to Nerja starts with approximately an hour inside the Nerja Cave, with an audio guide, and leaves approximately two and a half hours of free time afterwards.
Back to the coast
At the time the guide gives you, the group meets again and the coach takes you back to the same stop where you were picked up.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Cave worth adding?
If you have not seen it, yes: it is one of the best-known caves in Spain, with huge rock formations. The trade-off is approximately an hour less of free time in Nerja. If what you want is the village, the beach and a long lunch, the trip without the Cave suits you better.
Can I swim at Burriana beach?
Yes. With approximately three and a half hours in Nerja there is time for the beach: bring your swimming costume and a towel.
Is there a breakfast stop?
No, but there is time to have breakfast in Frigiliana, the first stop of the day.
Is there time for lunch?
Yes, during your free time in Nerja. Lunch is not included.
What is not allowed in the Nerja Cave?
Tripods, selfie sticks, laser pointers and torches, as well as eating and drinking inside. Pushchairs and wheelchairs are not allowed either. Wear closed shoes with grip: no flip-flops.
Is it suitable if I have reduced mobility?
The trip without the Cave can be done with a folding wheelchair, as long as the person can get on and off the coach on their own or with a companion, as there is no specific assistance for boarding; say so when you book. Frigiliana is steep, so if you have any doubt, write to us before booking.
Can I bring my dog?
