Old Marbella, Puerto Banús and a white village above the coast
Three very different sides of the Costa del Sol in one easy day: the whitewashed old town of Marbella, the luxury marina of Puerto Banús and Mijas Pueblo, a white village on the slopes of its sierra. The drives between stops are short.
Marbella
The coach heads west along the coast, with a view of the Golden Mile on the way into Marbella. You have approximately an hour and three quarters to walk the town: the Avenida del Mar, with its replicas of bronze sculptures by Salvador Dalí, between the Alameda park and the seafront; then the Plaza de los Naranjos and the old town, with Calle Ancha, the old walls and the church of Santa María de la Encarnación.
Puerto Banús
Approximately fifteen minutes further on is Puerto Banús, where you have approximately 45 minutes in the marina that is the symbol of the Marbella jet set: yachts, cars and restaurants, the walk of fame on Avenida José Banús, the Plaza Antonio Banderas and the promenade along the port.
Mijas Pueblo
The day ends in Mijas, a white village of narrow streets and flowerpots in the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas, known for its donkey-taxis. You have approximately two and a half hours, with entry to the CAC Mijas, the centre of contemporary art, which has works by Dalí and Picasso and a large collection of Picasso's ceramics, and a small tasting of Málaga muscatel. Then free time for lunch and for the village: the bronze donkey by the tourist office, the hermitage of the Virgen de la Peña and the Mirador del Compás, the small oval bullring, the gardens of the old walls with their views, Calle San Sebastián and the Plaza de la Constitución.
Back to the coast
In the afternoon the whole group meets at the coach park in Mijas Pueblo, and the coach takes you back to the same stop where you were picked up.
